Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Scheme: Before the assembly elections, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has announced to launch the Mahila Samman Scheme in Delhi. The Delhi Cabinet led by Chief Minister Atishi has approved giving Rs 1000 every month to women.
The Aam Aadmi Party has promised that if their government is formed in Delhi again, the honorarium under the scheme will be increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 2100. The benefit of the Delhi Chief Minister Mahila Samman Scheme will be given to women above the age of 18 years.
The benefit of the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana will be available only to those women who have voter cards in Delhi till 12 December 2024. That is, women whose names are not in the Delhi voter list and who do not have a voter card will not get Rs 1000. Women who are currently permanent employees of the Central Government, Delhi Government or any local body, or are MPs, MLAs or councilors or who have paid income tax last year, could also not get the benefit of this scheme.
These too will not get the benefit.
Women who are taking the benefit of the Delhi government’s old age pension scheme, disability pension scheme or the financial assistance scheme given to aggrieved women will also not be given the benefit of the Delhi Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana. About 38 lakh women will get the benefit of this government scheme. For this, an annual budget of Rs 456 crore has been kept.
Women will be economically empowered
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi described the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana as a big step towards making the women of Delhi economically independent. She said that there are a large number of women in the national capital who are not economically independent. They have to approach someone else to fulfill their small needs. Understanding this pain of women, the government has started this scheme.
