LPG Subsidy: After the Modi government came to power, most of the houses have gas connections. A big good news is coming for those who have gas connection. There is news that subsidy on LPG cylinder can be started again by the government.

In the report of the Energy Transition Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, it has been recommended to give subsidy on seven to eight cylinders annually. In such a situation, it is expected that the government can take a decision on this soon.

Issued LPG connections to 9.5 crore families

According to the published news related to the resumption of subsidy on LPG cylinder in a reputed newspaper, the government may reconsider giving subsidy. Let us tell you that ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana’ was started in the year 2016 by the Modi government. Since then, till September 2022, LPG connections have been issued to 9.5 crore low income families. Today LPG is being used in 30 crore houses of the country.

Earlier, subsidy was available on 12 cylinders.

It was also told in the report that due to the high cost of LPG, 85 percent of the country’s households are not able to fully use LPG for cooking. Let us tell you that before the Corona period, subsidy was given on 12 cylinders annually by the government. But now there is talk of giving LPG subsidy on eight cylinders. By reducing the number of subsidized LPG cylinders, the total amount of subsidy given by the government will decrease by 13 to 15 percent.

It is generally believed that eight cylinders are required annually for cooking in a house. In the report, it has been said to leave the subsidy on behalf of the rich people as before. Apart from this, it was also said that if a family consumes three cylinders every year, then they will be given more subsidy than those who take four to seven cylinders.

Let us tell you that still three-fourth of the families in the country do not have LPG connection. The monthly income of these families is less than Rs 10,000.
