On the instructions of the Election Commission, liquor shops will now be closed in Himachal Pradesh from Thursday i.e. May 30 evening. Orders have been issued in this regard.
As per the instructions of the Election Commission, election campaigning will end in Himachal Pradesh at 5 pm on May 30. In such a situation, liquor shops will remain closed for three days. Which will open after 6 pm on May 1. At the same time, June 4 will also be a dry day. Because the election results will be announced on that day.

Shimla DC and Election Officer Anupam Kashyap issued an order stating that in view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, liquor shops will remain closed from 6 pm on May 30 to 6 pm on June 1, 2024 within a radius of 3 kilometers in Shimla district and the border with other states. This day has been declared a dry day. He said that apart from this, on the day of counting on June 4, 2024, there will also be a dry day till the counting is completed.
He said that during this period, there will be a ban on the sale and distribution of intoxicants in hotels, dhabas, shops or public and private places. It is worth mentioning that there are 2200 liquor shops in Himachal Pradesh. The government earns about 2500 crores from the excise policy.
