There is big news for alcohol drinkers. Alcohol is going to become cheaper in the southern state of Karnataka from July 1.
The Karnataka government has decided to reduce the price of alcohol. The state government has announced a reduction in the prices of premium alcohol brands including beer in the state from July 1.
The state government’s draft notification, which will come into effect next month, has reduced excise duty on expensive types of liquor. The government has also revised the prices of premium liquor in 16 different categories to bring them competitive with the selling price of liquor in neighbouring states.

The move is expected to make semi-premium and other brands of liquor more affordable locally. According to the government, this will make it possible to buy cheap liquor in Karnataka itself instead of resorting to other states.
The revised price of 750 ml bottle of Greta, earlier Rs. 2000. But from July 1, it is available between Rs. 1700 and Rs. 1800. Similarly, Rs. 5000 wine will be available around Rs. 3600-3700 and Rs. 7100 wine will be priced at Rs. 5200, says an Asianet report.
