According to the new policy of the government, the price of beer has been increased by Rs 15 and bottles of liquor from Rs 20 to Rs 200. Now a bottle of beer will be available for Rs 175 and premium liquor up to Rs 1035.

Rajasthan Wine Union state president Pankaj Dhankhar has warned that smuggling cases may increase due to cheap liquor in neighboring states, which will increase pressure on the police administration. Due to expensive foreign liquor, consumers may now be inclined towards cheap, raw and illegal liquor. This is posing a threat to both health and safety.

Shopkeepers are charging new rates even on old stock bottles, due to which arguments and fights are taking place between customers and salesmen. There is also a situation of chaos in many places. While the government is considering this policy as a means of increasing revenue, experts and businessmen say that this will only increase smuggling, crime and revenue loss. Now it remains to be seen whether this policy proves beneficial for the state or not.
