Bank Investment Schemes: It is necessary for the pensioners of the Central Government to submit their Jeevan Pramaan or Annual Life Certificate to the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA) every year to get pension. This certificate is necessary because it is a proof of existence.
Life certificate has to be submitted from 1st of November every year. However, the central government gave additional time to senior pensioners aged 80 years and above, who can submit their certificates from October 1.
The government has given several options for the pensioners to make the process of submission of life certificate easier. Pensioners can submit the certificate either by visiting pension disbursing agencies like banks, post offices and state/UT government offices or by opting for digital submission. In case the pensioner does not wish to appear before the PDA physically, he may submit a Life Certificate in the prescribed format signed by any of the designated officers.
According to the scheme booklet issued by the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPIO), such pensioners have been exempted from personal presence. Pensioners can use the Jeevan Pramaan portal to submit their Annual Life Certificate online. In this method, pensioners will have to download the Jeevan Pramaan application and provide the biometrics captured from UIDAI-mandated devices.
The UIDAI maintains a list of all the equipment required to record the biometrics of an individual for the Jeevan Pramaan digital certificate. The government also provides door-to-door banking services for generation and collection of life certificates through alliances. This includes 12 public sector banks serving 100 major cities. A pensioner can book the service through Doorstep Banking (DSB) mobile application, official website of DSB or through toll-free numbers – 18001213721, 18001037188.
