There is great news for the people of Kanpur that soon the journey from IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Railway Station will be possible through metro. Currently, metro is running from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel, which includes nine stations.

Now five new underground metro stations are also almost ready, on which metro is likely to run by the end of the year. The fare of these stations has also been fixed. Passengers will have to pay ₹ 40 to cover the distance of 15 kilometers from IIT Kanpur to Kanpur Central Railway Station. The metro will take about 25 minutes for this journey, and in total this route will include 14 stations (elevated and underground).

Five underground stations will be started in the new year.

According to metro officials, there is a plan to start metro service at these new underground stations in January. From January 7, a 15 km long metro route will be available in Kanpur. This will provide great relief to the passengers, especially those who come to the city from Kalyanpur. At present, the metro service was limited only from IIT Kanpur to Motijheel, due to which the number of passengers was also limited. But with the expansion plan of the metro till Kanpur railway station, now about 20 lakh people will be able to take advantage of the metro.

Discount on fare through smart card

Passengers who use NCMC (smart) card while travelling in metro will get an additional 10% discount on fare. On this expansion of Kanpur Metro, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the second section of the metro will also start from January, due to which more people will be able to take advantage of the metro. He has described this project as an important step towards Kanpur becoming a smart and metro city.

This expansion of Metro in Kanpur will not only enhance traffic convenience but will also improve the connectivity of the city, making travelling easier and time-saving for the citizens.
