The Pakistan government has decided to eliminate 1.5 lakh jobs. The government has given two important reasons behind this. Apart from this, the Pakistan government will reduce the number of affiliated agencies by half.
Bad news keeps coming out every day from Pakistan which is facing inflation and cash crisis. After first cutting the pension, now the Sharif government of Pakistan has decided to eliminate 1.5 lakh jobs. Finance Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Aurangzeb announced on Tuesday that the government has decided to eliminate 1.5 lakh jobs to cut costs and increase efficiency. He also said that the government will reduce the number of affiliated agencies by half.
“We are reducing the size of the federal government in a phased manner. So far, 80 departments have been consolidated into 40,” Aurangzeb said at a press conference. He said the government intends to complete these reforms by June 2025. He said 60 per cent of the vacancies were eliminated, which is equivalent to about 1.5 lakh government jobs.
Pension has also been cut
Earlier, the Pakistan government had announced a massive cut in the pension benefits of retired employees and military personnel to reduce the rising pension bill. According to a report in the Pakistani media, three separate notifications were issued, reducing the first-time pension and also changing the basis for determining future pension increases.
Actually, inflation has increased tremendously in Pakistan in the last 4-5 years, and the country is also facing a cash crisis. To deal with the deteriorating economic situation, this neighboring country has requested loans from many countries including the IMF. The International Monetary Fund gave loans to Pakistan but has laid down conditions to cut down government expenditure. For this reason, the Pakistan government is taking decisions like eliminating jobs to reduce expenses.
