There is important news for pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi temple located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. The ban on sale and use of alcohol and non-vegetarian food in base camp Katra has been extended for 2 months.
Officials gave this information on Sunday. They said that this ban will be applicable on the 12 km long route from Katra to the temple located on Trikuta mountain and in the surrounding areas. This ban will be effective for two months from the date of issuance of the order.
Katra’s sub-divisional magistrate Piyush Dhotra has imposed this ban under section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNS). Officials said that apart from the Katra to Mandir Marg, alcohol and non-vegetarian food will be banned in villages like Arali, Hansali and Matyal within a radius of 2 km on both sides of the road. Similarly, the ban will be applicable in Chamba, Serli and Bhagta villages located within a radius of 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Tikri road. This ban will also be applicable in Kundorian, Kotli Bajalian, Nomain and Maghal villages located in an area of 200 meters on both sides of the Katra-Jammu road.
Helicopter quota facility for pilgrims
It is worth noting that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced helicopter quota facility for senior citizens and Divyang pilgrims at Vaishno Devi temple. SMVDSB Chief Executive Officer Anshul Garg said that this decision was taken with the aim of increasing pilgrim services. He said that the quota will be available on the official website of the board. Garg said that the board has always been committed to improving the pilgrimage experience by introducing new facilities from time to time and upgrading the existing infrastructure. He said, ‘This facility has been started in response to the long-standing demand from the Senior Citizen Forum. The forum had recently met with the high-level committee and demanded a separate helicopter booking quota.’
