Income tax department is sending message
The Income Tax Department is giving information about refund through SMS. Therefore, you should check your SMS once. If there is no such message, then you should check your email. Then you should check the balance of the bank account. If your refund has not arrived, then you can log in to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department and check the status of the refund.

Check status on e-filing portal
You can log in to the e-filing portal with the help of your IT and password. After that you have to go to the ‘View Return/Forms’ option. After that you have to select ‘Income Tax Return’. To see the status, you have to click on the acknowledgement number. Here you will know whether your return has been processed or not. If you have any issue with the return, then you will also know about it. If it is written here ‘Processed with no demand no refund’, then it means that your return has been processed, but no refund is being made for you.
check bank account details
Many times, refunds are delayed due to incorrect bank account details. Therefore, taxpayers should check whether the bank account details given in the ITR are correct or not. The Income Tax Department sends refund money only to pre-validated bank accounts. Experts say that your refund can also get stuck due to any error in the ITR. If this happens, you can file a revised return under section 139(5) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
If you have received a notice, respond to it
The Income Tax Department sends notices to some taxpayers. This may contain some questions related to ITR. You need to log in to your email ID and e-filing portal to check whether any income tax notice has been sent to you. If you have been sent a notice, then you have to respond to the notice sent under section 143(1).
