No ticket is charged for 1 to 4 years
According to Indian Railways, if your child is between 1 year and 4 years old, then you do not need to buy a ticket. According to the rules, there is no need to make reservation for children between 1 year and 4 years old. They can travel in the train without a ticket.
Children between 5 and 12 years of age will have to buy half ticket
According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a child between 5 and 12 years is travelling with you, then you will have to buy half ticket for him/her. In such a case, children will not be given berth. You will have to adjust the children with you. However, if you want the child to get a seat, then you will have to buy a full ticket for him/her.
You will have to pay the full fare if you choose the seat option
If someone chooses the option of berth for children aged 1-5 years, then the full amount will have to be paid. There is no half ticket for children below 13 years of age

Children of this age will have to pay the full fare of the train ticket. After which they will get a full seat. If you hide the age of the child and fraudulently take a half ticket, then according to the rules of Indian Railways, you may have to pay a fine.
Many times people avoid paying the fare of train tickets by hiding the age of their children. In such a situation, Indian Railways has said that parents who book tickets for their children will have to show the necessary documents. In which they can show the child’s birth certificate and Aadhar card.
