IndiGo will introduce business class service on select flights on 12 domestic routes

Budget airline IndiGo will introduce business class service on select flights on 12 domestic routes from November 14. Apart from this, the company will also launch a customer loyalty program for business expansion.

In a program organized to mark the company’s 18th anniversary, IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers said on Monday that booking for business class seats will start from August 6. Business class passengers will be offered special food. A321 Neo aircraft will have 12 business class seats.

How much will the business class fare be?

Albers said that one-way fares for business class seats will start from Rs 18,018. These seats will be available on the busiest and business routes and will start with Delhi-Mumbai flights. The company had announced the launch of business class service on select routes on May 23 this year.

Plan for 7 international flights

Currently, Tata Group-owned Air India, Air India Express and Vistara offer business class seats. IndiGo will start flights to seven more international destinations in the current financial year. Currently, the company operates more than 2,000 flights daily to 120 destinations. This includes 33 foreign cities. This is expected to increase IndiGo’s dominance further.

Indigo tops in market share

IndiGo has a 61 percent share in the domestic market. The company has placed an order for 975 aircraft. In the event, IndiGo co-founder and managing director Rahul Bhatia said that he and InterGlobe Enterprises will continue to stay here. He said that the purpose of the recent stake sale was to raise funds for business and general corporate purposes.
