The airline has decided to increase the number of women pilots to above 1,000 within a year. Let us tell you that currently there are more than 800 women pilots in the airline, which is only 14 percent of the total number of pilots.

IndiGo has announced that soon more than 1000 women workforce will be included in its workforce. This means that soon female pilots will start getting jobs on a large scale in IndiGo. IndiGo is expanding its fleet and network.

In an effort to promote diversity and inclusiveness, airline company IndiGo aims to increase the number of women pilots in its workforce to more than 1,000 by next year. The airline, which is expanding its fleet and network, currently has more than 800 women pilots.

Sukhjeet S Pasricha, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, IndiGo, said that the airline is promoting inclusivity in a big way by working in every field including engineering and flight staff. He said, “We are promoting diversity and inclusivity in every work area. We adopt a 360-degree approach for this.” The number of women in engineering has increased by about 30 percent overall. According to him, IndiGo has the highest number of women pilots, which are now more than 800.
The company has about 14 percent women pilots, while the global average is seven to nine percent women pilots. He said, we will cross the number of 1,000 women pilots in a year (by August, 2025). The airline, which operates more than 2,000 flights daily, currently has more than 5,000 pilots. On Wednesday, IndiGo inducted 77 women pilots for its Airbus and ATR aircraft to celebrate 77 years of the country’s independence. The airline had 36,860 permanent employees as of March 31, 2024, including 5,038 pilots and 9,363 cabin crew.
