At the same time, Singapore’s passport has emerged as the world’s most powerful passport, which allows visa-free entry to 193 countries.
Japan and South Korea are in second place
According to the Hanley Passport Index 2025, Japan and South Korea are jointly ranked second in this list, citizens of these countries can travel to 190 countries without prior visa. At the same time, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain are ranked third with visa-free travel to 189 countries. Afghanistan is at the bottom of this list at 99th place, whose citizens can travel to only 25 countries. Syria and Iraq are ranked 98th and 97th with visa-free travel to 27 and 30 countries.
Interesting changes in the rankings
Some interesting changes have also been seen in this year’s ranking. Last year, six countries including Singapore and Japan were jointly ranked first, but now Singapore has taken itself to the top. Japan also remains in second place after restoring access to China for visa-free travel. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been the fastest growing country in the last decade, UAE has acquired visa-free travel facility to 72 countries since 2015 and has now reached the 10th position.
What is the situation of US passport?
On the other hand, the US and Venezuela have become the countries that have suffered the most decline in this list. According to experts, US political policies and increasing protectionist tendencies are affecting its global travel freedom. At the same time, China is also rapidly improving visa-free travel and has now reached 60th place.
