New Delhi. If you have taken the services of Indian Railways, then it is quite possible that you must have known about the waiting list. Those passengers are put in the waiting list whose tickets are not confirmed. Going on the waiting list means that if a passenger with a confirmed ticket cancels his journey, then you will be given his seat. However, it was not that easy. The waiting list can also be very long.
If your waiting list number is 100, then it will mean that at least 99 people in that train will have to cancel their tickets, then your number will come somewhere. There are many types of waiting lists as well. Today we will tell you about those different waiting lists.
GNWL – It means General Waiting List. If a confirmed passenger cancels his ticket, you will be allotted his seat.
TQWL – If you book a ticket in Tatkal and still put it in waiting then it is called Tatkal Wait List (TQWL). Chances of getting this ticket confirmed are very less.
PQWL – It means Pooled Quota Waiting List. This wait list is different from the general one. In this, those passengers are put who are about to board and disembark between the starting and ending station. For example, in a train going from Delhi to Patna, passengers landing in Banaras or Mughalsarai after catching a train from Bareilly.
RLWL – Remote Location Waitlist. The smaller station has a seat quota in the train. Those catching trains from far-flung stations are put in this list. The chances of it getting confirmed are very high.
RSWL – Such waitlist which is for a particular station is called road site waitlist. For example, the waitlist for New Delhi station only will be called RSWL.
Special mention
Apart from these, 2 types of tickets are given to the passengers. One of these is RAC. It means- reservation against cancellation. In this, only 1 seat is given to people with 2 RAC tickets. As soon as a confirmed ticket is canceled, first of all the tickets of these people are confirmed and the full seat is given. Next is CNF. However, this is not the type of ticket but the update on your ticket. It means that your ticket has been confirmed and seat will be allotted at the time of chart preparation. The chart of the train is prepared about 4 hours before its departure time.
