Indian Railways: According to the Railways, by providing door-to-door parcel service to the customers, this service can be a game-changer in the transport of parcels. A total of 15 sectors have been planned to be included in the first phase. For the first time, the tariff has been fixed per kilometer per kilo of goods.
Indian Railways: Indian Railways and India Post have launched Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service. This is the beginning of joint parcel product of Railways and India Post. It is an initiative of partnership between Indian Railways and India Post in providing service sector seamless logistics in the country. The collaboration between Indian Railways and India Post is a part of the budget announcement 2022-23.

According to Railways, by providing door-to-door parcel service to the customers, this service can be a game-changer in the transport of parcels. Rail Post Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service from ICOD Okhla, Delhi was flagged off by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Thursday. It has started between four sectors Delhi to Kolkata, Bengaluru to Guwahati, Surat to Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad to Hazrat Nizamuddin. However, a total of 15 sectors have been planned to be included in the first phase.

Key highlights of this service Door step pickup and delivery, Time bound train service, Affordable tariff, Mobile application, Palletization Transport through covered and sealed boxes, Semi-canned handling, Insurance damage at 0.05% of declared value of cargo for damages facility is provided.
According to Railways, in order to safely handle parcel consignments of customers, this initiative emphasizes on semi-mechanical handling of parcels. In addition, as per requirement, temperature controlled parcel vans will be made available for transportation of consignments which require temperature adjustment.
