While traveling in the train, many passengers do not sleep at night because the gate is open, in case someone runs away with their luggage. This concern is more for the passengers riding on the seats around the gate. Next time you travel by train, sleep peacefully at night. Don’t worry about closing the gate. According to the railway manual, this is the responsibility of the TT and if any TT does not do this then you can complain without fear.

At present, about two crore passengers travel in more than 10 thousand trains every day. These include 2122 trains including premium, mail and express. Apart from this, there are also mail and passenger trains. There are two gates in premium trains and AC class. One is at the main gate and the other is at the point where the seats start. Generally, the gates of these class coaches open and close less frequently. Because less number of passengers board and deboard these coaches. Because of this, passengers travel without worrying about their luggage.

At the same time, passengers traveling in sleeper keep worrying about their luggage throughout the night. Since the gate of the coach remains almost open. In such a situation, any outsider can board the coach and take the luggage at any time. At present, out of total 68534 coaches, non-AC i.e. sleeper and general coaches are 44946, while the number of AC coaches is 23588. In this way, two-thirds of the coaches are of sleeper and general category, thus more people in the country travel in these categories. Passengers traveling in this category can also have a peaceful journey. There is a rule for this in the railway manual.

This is the responsibility of TT

According to the railway manual, it is the responsibility of TT to open the gates only on the side where the train is approaching the platform. On the other hand the gates should remain closed. So that no person from the other side can board the train.

TT is responsible for closing the gate after the train starts running.

If any passenger is hanging or sitting at the gate, then he has to be called and made to sit on the seat.
