How to find vacant seat in train from IRCTC website

Step 1 : Visit the IRCTC website and on the main page, just above the book ticket box, you will see the Charts/Vacancy option.
Step 2 : Click on it and it will open a new tab named Reservation Chart.
Step 3 : Enter the train name/number in the first box and boarding station in the second box.
Step 4 : Click on Get Train Chart Now. This will reveal the reservation chart with details of vacant seats.
Step 5 : You can find vacant seats in different classes and in different coaches, even berth wise.

How to find vacant seat in train using IRCTC app

You can use the official IRCTC app on mobile phone. It is available on both Android and iOS app stores. Once it is downloaded and installed, you can follow the steps given below to book a vacant seat for yourself.

Step 1 : Open IRCTC app.
Step 2 : Tap on the train icon.
Step 3 : Click on Chart Vacancy. This opens the reservation chart page on the mobile web browser.
Step 4 : Enter journey details like train name/number as well as boarding station.
Step 5: You will see the number of vacant berths available on the screen along with the number of vacant berths.
Step 6 : You do not need to log in to the IRCTC app to see all these details.
