Income Tax Rules: Govt has sought Suggestions From the People to draft the Income Tax Rules

0

New Delhi. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Tuesday (March 18) said that stakeholders can send their suggestions for drafting the income tax rules and related forms related to the proposed Income Tax Bill, 2025.

The Income Tax Bill, 2025 was introduced in Parliament last month. Currently it is with the Select Committee for review.

Stakeholders are encouraged to continue to submit their suggestions on the provisions of the bill, which will be compiled and sent to the Select Committee for review. The CBDT said in a statement that efforts are underway to collect suggestions in line with the comprehensive review of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and to simplify the relevant income tax rules and various forms.

The initiative aims to increase clarity, reduce compliance burden and eliminate obsolete rules to make the tax process more accessible to taxpayers and other stakeholders. In addition, streamlining rules and forms aims to simplify tax compliance, improve taxpayer understanding and ease filing, reduce administrative burden and errors, and enhance transparency and efficiency.

Stakeholders can give suggestions like this

As part of a comprehensive consultative process, the committee formed to review the rules and forms invites suggestions from stakeholders in 4 categories, including simplification of language and reduction of litigation and compliance burden. To facilitate this, a facility has been introduced on the ‘e-filing’ platform. It is available to all stakeholders from March 8, 2025. Stakeholders can give their suggestions by entering their name and mobile number. After this, there will be an OTP-based validation process.
