In fact, the Income Tax Department has launched a new facility called “Annual Information Statement (AIS)” to make the process of filing Income Tax Return easier. Taxpayers can now verify their income tax returns with the new Annual Information Statement before filing and avoid facing notices from the income tax department in future.

Annual Information Statement (AIS) is more comprehensive than the old Form 26AS and contains all the information on taxpayers that is already with the Income Tax Department. With the help of AIS, filing income tax becomes very easy. Let us know about it in detail….

What is Form AIS?

With this help, it will be very easy for the taxpayer to fill his ITR. AIS i.e. Annual Information Statement simply means that all the financial information of the year i.e. the details of earnings through different mediums are found in it. This income includes the amount received from interest on savings account, income from recurring or FD, money received as dividend, income from mutual funds or securities and any income from abroad.

Why is it important

AIS will bring transparency in ITR filing and simplify things for taxpayers. With the help of AIS, filing income tax becomes very easy. That’s why you must have AIS before filing ITR. Do not file ITR until AIS is received by you. Because there can be a difference in the figures if ITR is filed without AIS. Although the updated AIS is not yet available, it is likely that this document will be available to taxpayers in the first week of May.
