If you are linking PAN and Aadhaar card, then your PAN and Aadhaar card details like name, gender and date of birth should be same in both the documents.

If these details do not match, then the process of linking your PAN and Aadhaar card can be stopped even before completion. That’s why you have to pay attention that the details of your PAN and Aadhaar card should be same so that all your details match in both the documents. Otherwise your PAN will not be linked with Aadhaar card. The last date to link PAN and Aadhaar card is June 30, 2023.

The Income Tax Department informed the PAN card holder that due to some reasons the demographic details may be mismatched and the linkage of Aadhaar and PAN may be prevented from being successful. In case of any

demographic details mismatch, biometric-based authentication has been provided for ease of PAN-Aadhaar linking and can be availed at dedicated centers of PAN service providers (Protein and UTIITSL).

According to the official tweet of the IT department, while linking PAN with Aadhaar, there may be difference in name, date of birth, gender due to mismatch of demographic details. To facilitate easy linking of PAN and Aadhaar in case of any demographic detail mismatch, biometric-based authentication has been provided and can be availed at dedicated centers of PAN service providers (Proteon and UTIITSL).

PAN-Aadhaar linking may be banned for these reasons

  1. While linking PAN with Aadhaar, there may be mistakes in name, date of birth, gender due to mismatch in demographic details.
  2. First of all, update the PAN details by visiting the website https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html .
  3. After this go to UTIITSL- https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/ .
  4. After this go to https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guests/update and update your Aadhaar card.
  5. After this, try to link PAN Aadhaar again by visiting the website https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/pre-login/bl-link-aadhaar .
  6. If the linking application is still not successful. So you can use the option of biometric-based authentication by visiting the PAN service provider centers and paying a nominal charge of Rs 50.

According to the UIDAI website, in case of any minor mistakes in the Aadhaar name provided by the taxpayers as compared to the actual data in Aadhaar, One Time Password (Aadhaar OTP) will be sent to the mobile registered with Aadhaar. Taxpayers should ensure that the date of birth and gender in PAN and Aadhaar should be exactly the same.

How to change name, phone number and date of birth in PAN card

  1. First of all you go to NSDL Online – https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
  2. Then select the ‘PAN Correction’ option from the ‘Application Type’ dropdown and fill in your details.
  3. Then enter the captcha code and then click on submit.
  4. You will get a message with a token number.
  5. Click on Continue PAN Application Form. You will be redirected to the online PAN application page.
  6. Check your details in the preview form, make any necessary changes and then proceed for payment.
  7. After filling all the details and making the payment, a receipt slip will be generated. You need to print it and submit it to the NSDL e-Gov office along with the physical proof of documents.
