The Income Tax Department has issued a last warning for those who have not linked PAN card with Aadhaar. PAN card holders have been advised to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar card number by March 31, 2023.

What if there is no PAN-Aadhaar link?

If you have not yet linked PAN-Aadhaar and miss this deadline, then PAN card will be deactivated first. Now if you use deactivated or inoperative PAN card then you will have to pay fine. The provision of fine ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000. Remember the date of 31st March.

What is the warning of the Income Tax Department?

The Income Tax Department has asked PAN card holders to link it with Aadhaar card. According to the Income Tax Act 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders to link their PAN with Aadhaar before March 31, 2023. If he does not do this, his PAN card will be canceled and will not be useful in any further financial activity. If used, there is a provision for both fine and jail. The fine can be up to 10 thousand rupees.

How to know if PAN card is canceled somewhere?

It is easy to find out whether Pan Card is active or not. You can know this in 3 simple steps by visiting the website of the Income Tax Department.

Step-1: Go to the Income Tax Department’s website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Several columns are given from top to bottom on the left side.

Step-2: There is an option by the name of Know your PAN. Clicking here will open a window. In this, surname, name, states, gender, date of birth and registered mobile number have to be entered.

Step-3: After filling the details another new window will open. You will be sent an OTP on the registered mobile number. OTP will have to be submitted by entering it in the open window here. After this PAN number, name, citizen, ward number and remark will appear in front of you. It will be written in the remark whether your PAN card is active or not.

If there is no link then do online linking like this

  • First of all go to the Income Tax website.
  • Enter the name, PAN number and Aadhaar number as given in the Aadhaar card.
  • Tick ​​the square if only the year of birth is given in the Aadhaar card.
  • Now enter the captcha code.
  • Now click on Link Aadhaar button
  • Your PAN will be linked with Aadhaar.

If not online, then the easiest way is to link through SMS

Type UIDPAN on your phone. Enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number. Then write the 10 digit PAN number. Now send the message to 567678 or 56161.
