The Income Tax Department has warned people who do not link PAN card with Aadhaar. If you have not yet linked your PAN card with Aadhaar, then you can link it by March 31, 2023. Those who do not do this till this date, their PAN card will be deactivated after 1 April 2023.

The Income Tax Department has tweeted asking people to link Aadhaar card with PAN card. It has been said in the tweet that according to the Income Tax Act 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders who do not fall in the exempted category to link their PAN with Aadhaar before March 31, 2023.

Why is it necessary to link PAN card with Aadhaar?

The government uses the PAN card to keep a record of the financial transactions of the people in the country. It is issued by the Income Tax Department. It works through electronic system. All the tax related information of a person or company is recorded in a single PAN number. PAN serves to store that data. It is issued only once to any person. In such a situation, when it is deactivated, many problems may have to be faced.

How to link PAN card with Aadhaar?

To link your PAN card with Aadhaar online, you must first visit the Income Tax e-filing website. Here after entering your PAN and Aadhaar number in the form, you will have to fill your name as per your Aadhaar card. After this, if only your date of birth was written on your Aadhaar card, then you will have to put a right mark in the box. Then to verify, the captcha code given in the image has to be entered in it. After this, the option of “Link Aadhaar” will appear in front of you. Click on that. After completing this process, your PAN card will be linked with Aadhaar.
