IMD’s red alert in these districts, heavy rains expected in this state for the next four days

A forecast of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Uttarakhand for the next four days. Red alert has been issued for Nainital, Champawat, Udhamsinghnagar and Orange alert has been issued for the rest of the districts. On the other hand, heavy to moderate rains were recorded in many districts on Thursday as well.

Meteorological Director Dr. Bikram Singh said that along with Kumaon, an alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain in many districts including Chamoli, Pauri. There is a possibility of heavy rains across the state on July 14, 15, 16, 17. There will be relief from rain for about a week from 18th. People are appealed to avoid traveling in bad weather and stay at safer places. During this time the rivers may be in spate or roads may be closed.

Principal himself will be able to declare holiday

Now in view of heavy rains or any other disaster situation, the principal will be able to take the decision to keep the school closed on his own. For this, the permission of the district administration will no longer be required. Dehradun’s Chief Education Officer Pradeep Kumar has issued its order. According to the order, till July 20, principals or deans of government, non-government and private schools will be able to close the schools in case of heavy rains or bad weather.

Administration alert for disaster prevention

Dehradun’s DM Sonika inspected the Disaster Management Center on Thursday. He also inquired about the loss due to excessive rains across the district. At the same time, directed the officers to work actively. He said that in case of heavy rains and landslides, the SDM of the area can also take a decision on holiday for schools.

The DM directed all the officers to work in coordination with each other during the disaster in the district. At the same time, on the closure of the roads, instructions were given for immediate relief and rescue. He said that the officers should immediately inform the police and disaster management about the closure of the road. All officers and employees associated with IRS were also asked to increase activism.
