Heavy Rain Warning: Heavy rain and cold winds that started in Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning have brought a big change in the weather. It is raining intermittently in the capital and many surrounding areas, due to which the temperature has dropped.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the sky will remain cloudy throughout the day and light to moderate rain is expected. Apart from this, rain with thunder and lightning is also expected in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. The Meteorological Department has predicted similar weather for the next 24 hours.

Effect of rain and snowfall in North India

Apart from Delhi-NCR, the effect of rain and snowfall is being seen in many states of North India. There has been fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir, which has increased the cold. An avalanche incident was reported in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, in which some people were trapped, however the administration showed promptness and evacuated them safely. On the other hand, due to continuous rain for the last 24 hours in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, landslides have occurred, due to which many roads have been closed. The administration has advised people living on the banks of rivers and drains to remain alert.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?

According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi and surrounding areas may remain cloudy throughout the day with light rain at some places. The maximum temperature is likely to be 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 13 degrees Celsius. Due to cold winds, the effect of cold will be felt more in the morning and evening. According to weather experts, there will be intermittent rain for the next few days, which may further reduce the temperature.

Rain alert in Haryana, Punjab and UP

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain and hailstorm in many areas of Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Heavy rains have been predicted in Kurukshetra, Karnal, Sonipat, Panipat and Rohtak in Haryana. Similarly, Uttarakhand and Punjab may also receive heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms. The IMD has advised farmers to take appropriate steps to avoid crop damage, as rain and hailstorms can damage Rabi crops.

Cold weather will continue for the next few days

According to IMD, there are chances of light rain in Delhi-NCR on Sunday and Monday as well. At the same time, snowfall will continue in the hilly areas, due to which cold will persist in the plains as well. However, there may be a slight increase in temperature from next week. Weather experts say that this year the effect of cold may be more than normal in early March, due to which people will have to continue taking measures to protect themselves from cold.

In view of this changing weather, the administration has appealed to the people to be alert and take necessary precautions. Especially those traveling in hilly areas have been advised to be cautious, as many roads may be blocked due to snowfall and landslides. At the same time, people in the plains have also been advised to wear warm clothes and pay attention to weather updates to protect themselves from the cold.
