The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted above normal temperatures in most parts of the country in October.
According to IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra, five major regions of the southern peninsula—Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala and south interior Karnataka—may receive above normal rainfall during the post-monsoon (north-east monsoon) season from October to December.
Above normal rainfall forecast in some areas According to the Meteorological Department, many parts of central India and some areas of Northeast India are also expected to receive above normal rainfall. However, North-West India and far southern parts may receive below normal rainfall. Above normal rainfall is expected in many areas during October.
Heavy rains are expected in these states today Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam on October 3. Heavy rain alert has also been issued in parts of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Rain forecast in the coming days too
- October 4: Heavy rains likely over Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland and Tamil Nadu.
- October 5 and 6: Heavy rainfall is expected over Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may deteriorate in some states in the coming days, therefore people have been advised to remain alert.
