Weather Update: Amidst the severe cold in North India, heavy rain warning has been issued in many southern states for the next three days. According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed in the Southwest Bay of Bengal, due to which there will be heavy rain in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, North Tamil Nadu for three days i.e. 18-20 December. Apart from this, cold wave is going to continue in North West India for the next five to seven days. Severe cold will continue in North India.

Talking about the weather of the last 24 hours, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan experienced cold wave to severe cold wave conditions. Apart from this, severe cold wave also occurred in Haryana, East Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch. Meanwhile, cold day was recorded in western Rajasthan. Ground frost conditions prevailed in Himachal Pradesh. Dense fog was observed in the morning and night in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.

Rain alert in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, coastal Andhra Pradesh will receive heavy to very heavy rains on December 19, while there is a warning of heavy rains on December 18 and 20. Apart from this, a heavy rain alert has been issued in Tamil Nadu on December 18 and in Rayalaseema on December 18 and 19.

Severe cold in North India

Talking about the weather of North India, the minimum temperature is being recorded below zero degrees in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. The minimum temperature in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh is between 0-6 degrees Celsius, while in the rest of North West India, Central and Western India it remains between 6-12 degrees. Today, the lowest temperature in the plains was recorded at 1.8 degrees Celsius in Churu, Western Rajasthan. In the last 24 hours, a drop of two to four degrees Celsius has been recorded in the minimum temperature in Western Rajasthan.
