The prediction of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) proved correct once again. Last night, there was light rain in Delhi-NCR, due to which dense fog and cold were felt this morning. The sky remained overcast, and the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain today as well.

Along with Delhi-NCR, there is a possibility of rain in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Northern Rajasthan. Due to this, the temperature may drop, which will further increase the effect of cold. At the same time, rain and snowfall continues in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Many roads have been closed due to heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. Gurez-Bandipura Road, Semthan-Kishtwar and Mughal Road have been closed due to snowfall in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Zojila Pass of Jammu and Kashmir. A yellow alert has been issued in 5 districts of Himachal today due to cold winds. The weather of rain, snowfall, fog and cold wave will continue in Himachal till January 28. Dense fog is also expected in 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh and rain may occur at some places.

Weather condition in Delhi-NCR

According to IMD, in the past 24 hours the minimum temperature of Delhi-NCR has dropped by 1°C, while there has been a slight increase in the maximum temperature. On Wednesday the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.6°C, but after the night’s rain the minimum temperature dropped to 9.3°C. There was light fog this morning, due to which the effect of cold was felt more. The Weather Department has predicted rain today as well. Today the maximum temperature of Delhi can be around 24°C and the minimum temperature can be around 10°C.

Effect of weather in other states

Many cyclonic circulations and western disturbances are active in the country at this time. Due to these, there is snowfall in the Himalayan regions and rain in North India. There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Heavy rains and strong winds may occur in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Apart from this, the weather will also be affected in other states of South India like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Odisha.

Cold wave and dense fog alert:

Cold wave is likely to prevail in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Along with this, dense fog may prevail in the morning and evening in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha till January 26. “Cold Day” alert has been issued in many cities of Himachal due to cold.
