IMD Heavy Rain Warning: Alert of heavy rain, thunderstorm and hailstorm in these states for 2 days

Heavy Rain Alert: There will be a major change in the weather in different parts of the country during March 21-24. Thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and moderate rains are expected in many states. This change can be seen due to the eastern winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal and the cyclonic circulation formed in south-western Madhya Pradesh.

Weather Forecast: Rain and thunderstorm forecast in eastern India

Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha: Moderate to heavy rains with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at speed of 50-60 kmph likely during 21-22 March.

Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh: Light to moderate rain is expected between 21-22 March, after which the intensity of rain will decrease.

Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim: Rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and winds at speed of 30-40 kmph expected during March 21-22.

Hailstorm Warning

On 20-22 March, hailstorm may occur at isolated places over Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.

There is also a possibility of hailstorm in Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal on March 21 and 22.

Heavy rain alert in Northeast India

Arunachal Pradesh: Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall with thunderstorms likely during March 21-23.

Assam and Meghalaya: Fairly widespread rain with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-50 kmph likely for next 5 days.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura: Light to moderate rain expected during March 21-23.

Rain and strong winds in South India

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, interior Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalaseema: Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at speed of 30-50 kmph is likely between March 22-24.

Possibility of hailstorm at isolated places in Telangana on 21st and 22nd March.

Rain and strong winds predicted in North and West India

Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan: Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning and winds at speed of 30-40 kmph likely on March 21.

Uttar Pradesh: Rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds may occur during March 21-22.

Temperature Forecast

Northwest India: There will be no significant change in the next 3 days, but after that the temperature may increase by 2-3°C.

Central India: Temperature will fall by 2-3°C in next 2-3 days, thereafter temperature will remain stable.

East India: No major change in the next 24 hours, but temperatures may drop by 4-6°C in the next 3-4 days.

West India: Temperatures will remain stable for 2-3 days, after which there is a possibility of increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius.

effect of heat and humidity

There will be hot and humid weather in southern parts of Gujarat on March 22-24.

Heat and humidity may persist in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on March 21-22.

No risk of heatstroke

There is no possibility of heat wave in any part of the country for the next 4-5 days.

All states are advised to remain alert as per these forecasts and take necessary safety measures.
