The effect of cold and fog is increasing in North India, while there is a possibility of rain in South India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that this situation may persist till November 25.

Cold will increase in North India, possibility of heavy rain with storm

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog may prevail in North Indian states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar till November 25, which will lead to severe cold. The temperature is falling with the increase in fog in the morning and evening. The effect of cold is being felt even during the day.

Rain alert in South India:

There is a possibility of rain due to cyclonic circulation in South India.

21 November : Cyclone likely to form in South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas.
23 November : This cyclone may turn into a low pressure in the southeast Bay of Bengal and move towards the southwest Bay of Bengal. Light to moderate
rains may occur in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and northeastern states (Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura). Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected at some places.

Effect of snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir:

Jammu and Kashmir is already experiencing severe cold due to snowfall. Temperatures are falling in other hilly areas as well.

Temperature status:

There was no significant change in minimum temperatures over most parts of the country.
Bihar: Minimum temperatures were 3°C to 5°C above normal at some places.
East Uttar Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands: Temperatures were 2°C to 3°C above normal. Temperatures were 2°
C to 3°C below normal in many parts including Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Telangana.

Weather Department’s Alert:

IMD has predicted that the weather will remain the same across the country till November 25. Alerts have been issued for rain in South India, fog and cold in North India, and thunderstorms with lightning in Northeast India.
