IMD Alert: Cold wave continues across the country and snowfall continues in hilly areas. Snowfall is occurring in four major hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, due to which weather changes are also being seen in the plains of North India. Rain, fog and cold winds are blowing in many places, due to which the temperature has dropped.
Weather conditions in the country
Light fog is being seen in Delhi and its surrounding areas in the morning and evening, but despite the sunshine during the day, cold winds have increased the cold further. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain in Delhi-NCR for the next two days. Apart from this, stormy winds have been warned in three other states and fog along with rain in more than 15 states.
There will be rain and snowfall in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is effective, due to which snowfall and rain may occur in the western Himalayan region till January 21. After this, rain and heavy snowfall is expected in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh between January 21 and 23. Along with this, light to moderate rain may also occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala.
Fog and cold wave alert in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of dense fog and cold wave in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states till January 22. Rain is also expected in some states.
Recorded drop in temperature
There was light fog in Delhi on January 19. For the last two days, the sun has been shining in Delhi-NCR, but the cold remains due to the cold wave. Today the maximum temperature in Delhi can be around 23.73°C and the minimum temperature can be around 11.05°C. The wind speed is 40 kilometers per hour and the humidity level is around 40%.
