IMD Alert: There will be heavy rain in these states with thunderstorms in the next 48 hours

Rain Alert: The weather is going to change once again in many parts of the country. A cyclonic circulation is formed in Northeast India. A new western disturbance may become active in the western Himalayan region from the night of February 18.

The Meteorological Department estimates that due to this the weather of many other areas including North and Northeast India will change. There is a possibility of rain in many parts in the next 48 hours. According to the IMD, there may be rain with thunder and lightning in Bihar, Jharkhand, Northeast India and Central Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Gangetic plains on February 19 and 20.

A new western disturbance is going to become active

The Western Disturbance is currently present as a trough in the middle troposphere. According to a report by Skymet Weather, it is currently located north of 71° East longitude and 33° North latitude at an altitude of 3.1 km. At the same time, a cyclonic circulation is active in Haryana and adjoining areas. The sub-tropical western jet stream is becoming effective at a speed of 120 knots at an altitude of 12.6 km over northwest India. Also, another cyclonic circulation is formed over northeastern Assam. Apart from all this, a new western disturbance may enter the western Himalayan region tomorrow i.e. Tuesday (February 18).

How will the weather be from 17 to 20 February

In the second week of February, the weather pattern of North, Northeast and Central India has changed. The maximum temperature is increasing in most areas. The minimum temperature has also reached above double digits. The Meteorological Department estimates that there is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature in North-West India during the next 2 days. After this, there will be a gradual increase of about 2 degrees Celsius during the next three days. According to IMD, the maximum temperature in North-West India may increase by about 2 degrees Celsius during the next 2 days.

How will the weather be in Delhi NCR in the next three days

  • 17 February- According to the Meteorological Department, it will be partly cloudy on 17 February. The maximum temperature in Delhi can remain between 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. By evening, the wind speed from the northwest direction is likely to be less than 10 km per hour. After this, during the night, the wind speed from the north direction will decrease to less than 6 km per hour.
  • 18 February- It will be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature in Delhi can be between 27 to 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
  • 19 February- Partly cloudy, sky will be generally cloudy in the evening. Very light rain is expected late at night. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be between 26 to 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be between 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
  • 20 February- The sky will be cloudy. Very light rain is expected in the morning. Strong winds may blow during the day. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be between 12 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Where will it rain during the next 24 hours

According to a report by Skymet Weather, light rain may occur in some parts of southwestern Uttar Pradesh, South Haryana and Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. Apart from this, light rain and snowfall is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Light rain may occur in Bihar, Jharkhand, Northeast India and Central Uttar Pradesh on February 18. Light to moderate rain may occur in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha and Northeast India on February 19 and 20. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms during this period.
