New Delhi. Your PAN card, which has been in use since 1972, is now on the path of change. The Modi government has approved the new version of PAN 2.0 and with this, about 78 crore people of the country will now have to change their Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.
The main objective of this change is to make things easier for taxpayers. After the government’s approval, the question arising in the minds of taxpayers is whether their PAN number will also change and what will be the process of making a new card.
As Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the new version of PAN card will be equipped with only new features, while your PAN number will remain the same. A QR code will be given on this card, which will contain all your information. Using this, it will become easier to pay tax or register a company or open a bank account.
What will be the new features
- The technology of PAN card will be completely upgraded to make its use easier.
- Special features will be added to make identification and registration of all types of businesses easier.
- An integrated platform will be created for all PAN related services, which will improve the user experience.
- Security features will also be installed in the new PAN card to keep the user’s data safe so that incidents like fraud can be controlled.
Where to get the new card made?
The Union Minister says that the common man does not need to do anything for the upgraded version of the PAN card. Neither will you need to apply anywhere for this nor will any fee be charged. All the 78 crore people of the country who have been issued PAN cards will be sent a new PAN card by the department.
Will the old card be discontinued?
The government has clearly said that the numbers will not be changed in the process of upgrading the PAN card. Everyone’s PAN number will remain the same and until you get the new card, you should continue to do all your work through the old PAN card. There is no need to apply anywhere for a new card nor is there any need to spend any money for it. The government will send the new PAN card directly to your address.
