Shikshamitras Honorarium in UP: The government is preparing to give a big relief to 1.5 lakh Shikshamitras of Uttar Pradesh. The government is considering increasing the honorarium of Shikshamitras working in the council primary schools of the state.

The state government has sent a letter related to this to the state’s finance department. This information was given by the government on the contempt petition filed in Allahabad High Court regarding giving respectable honorarium to Shikshamitras.

Increasing the honorarium will increase the burden on the government treasury

During the hearing, the state government’s lawyer told the High Court that increasing the honorarium of about one and a half lakh Shikshamitras will increase the burden on the government treasury. In such a situation, a report has been sent for the consent of the Finance Department. The contempt petition of Vivekananda of Varanasi is being heard by a bench of Justice Piyush Agarwal. The petitioner’s lawyer Satyendra Chandra Tripathi told that a petition was filed in the year 2023 demanding equal pay for equal work to the Shikshamitras. While disposing of the petition, the court said that the honorarium of Shikshamitras is very low.

The High Court ordered the government to form a committee for fixing a respectable honorarium

There was an order to fix a respectable honorarium for living according to the financial index. When the court order was not followed, a contempt petition was filed by Vivekananda. In the information given to the court by the government lawyer, it was told that in compliance with the order of January 12, 2024, a high-level committee was formed under the chairmanship of the Director of Education.

The committee submitted its report in August 2024.

This committee has submitted its report to the government on 9 August 2024. In view of the increasing financial burden, the report has been sent by the Finance Department. Satyendra Chandra Tripathi of Shiksha Mitra Sangh says that a petition was filed in the year 2023 demanding equal pay for equal work. The Allahabad High Court, while directing the state government in this matter, said through the court that the honorarium given to the Shiksha Mitra is very low. The court has directed the government to form a committee. Under the order issued by the court, a respectable honorarium should be fixed for living on the basis of financial index.
