Heat Wave News: The temperature of cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Rajkot, Bikaner and Kota has reached 50 degrees Celsius. Along with the Meteorological Department (IMD), now the district administration is also making people aware about what to do and what not to do in heat wave.

There is a severe heat wave in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, West Bengal and many states of North-East. The situation has worsened to such an extent that in more than 140 cities of the country, the temperature is 60 percent higher at night than in rural areas. Especially, the temperature of cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Rajkot, Bikaner, Kota, Patna, Lucknow has reached 50 degrees Celsius.

Along with the Meteorological Department (IMD), now the district administrations are also continuously issuing warnings. IMD has once again issued a warning saying that the temperature will go up further in the entire North India, West, South and some states of North-East till June 2. In this regard, people should not come out of their homes from 12 noon to 3 pm till June 2.

The maximum temperature in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan is consistently above normal. Similarly, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, plains of West Bengal and many areas of Bihar-Jharkhand are going to experience more severe heatwaves for the next few days. Therefore, people should be cautious from now itself. If you are not careful, a small mistake will cause a lot of harm to you and your family.

Take these measures to avoid heat stroke:

1- Avoid going out in the harsh sun, especially between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
2- Wear light coloured, loose and cotton clothes.
3- Keep your head covered while going out in the sun. Use a cloth, cap or umbrella for this.
4- Keep drinking water at regular intervals. Always keep drinking water with you while travelling.
5- Use homemade beverages like ORS solution, coconut water, lassi, rice water, lemon water, buttermilk, mango panna etc. to keep yourself hydrated. 6-
Keep yourself informed about the local weather and temperature through radio, TV and newspapers.
7- Contact a doctor immediately if you feel weak, dizzy or sick.
8- Keep your house cool, use curtains, shutters etc.

Don’t do these things

1- Do not do strenuous activities during the afternoon in extreme heat.
2- Avoid high protein food and do not eat stale food.
3- Avoid consuming alcohol, tea, coffee and carbonated soft drinks, as they dehydrate the body.
4- Avoid cooking during the afternoon when the day temperature is high. Keep the windows and doors open to keep the kitchen ventilated.
