There is good news for lakhs of coal workers in the country. Notification of new pay scale has been issued. Now from July the employees will get the benefit of the new pay scale. In this regard, after getting approval from the Ministry of Coal, Coal India’s DP (P AND IR) Vinay Ranjan has issued a notification on Thursday. With this the employees will get minimum 43677 and maximum 71030 salary. This will benefit 2.50 lakh employees.
Actually, about 2.50 lakh employees working in various mines of Coal India including South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) have got a big gift. The orders for the 11th wage settlement of the employees have finally been issued, in such a situation, the increased salary for the month of June will be paid in the first week of July. Along with this, the situation of confusion among the workers regarding the approval of DPE and other issues has ended. The arrears of the previous period will be provided separately to the workers.
Notification issued, payment orders in July
After getting approval from the Ministry of Coal, Coal India’s DP (P AND IR) Vinay Ranjan issued a notification on Thursday and issued implementation instructions regarding payment of salaries to CMDs of all subsidiary companies including BCCL, CCL. Under this, for the month of June The salary will be given in July under the new pay scale. Coal India Management has made a provision of Rs 9252.24 crore for this.

Under the notification, the new pay scale will be considered effective from 1 July 2021. On July 1, 2021, 2.3% House Rent Allowance, 11.25% Underground Allowance, 5% Special Allowance will be available and 1% electricity bill of Basic Pay will be deducted. Attendance Bonus will be 10% of Basic Pay every 3 months and 19% MGB of the pay as on 30 June 2021. There will be an increase of 3 percent per year in Basic Pay. Apart from this, Nursing Allowance will be effective from June 1, 2023.
If no health insurance policy is taken, a senior citizen can claim a deduction for medical expenses up to Rs 50,000 per financial year for himself or his family. This deduction is not available under the new tax regime.
Deduction for specific medical expenses
Under section 80DDB of Income Tax, a resident senior citizen (60 or above) can claim deduction for expenditure incurred on medical treatment of prescribed diseases/illnesses either for himself or for any dependent.
Under this section, a senior citizen can claim a deduction up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh per year. People below the age of 60 years can claim a maximum deduction of Rs 40,000. This deduction is not available under the new tax regime.
Deduction for Senior Citizen Savings Scheme
Under Section 80C, senior citizens are allowed a deduction as part of the overall limit of Rs 1.5 lakh per year for investments made in the Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS). This deduction is not available under the new tax regime.
