The Haryana government has taken a big decision. Now prepaid smart electricity meters will be installed in the entire state. In the first phase, they will be installed in government offices and employees’ homes.

In the second phase, these meters will also be installed in the homes of common people. This step has been taken to change the process of electricity bill, due to which electricity consumers will have to pay electricity bills in a new way.

After installing the smart meter, consumers will have to recharge their electricity bills in prepaid mode. Just like you recharge for your mobile phone, you will now have to recharge for electricity as well. In the second phase, this facility will be extended to the common people. Under this, common citizens will also be given the facility to install this prepaid meter, so that they can also recharge and use electricity.

Union Energy and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar gave information about this scheme and said that this step can reduce the losses of big loss-making enterprises like L&T.
