In the era of increasing cyber crime in the country, it has come to light that whether it is Jamtara or Mewat, cyber thugs committed the crime by using SIM cards running in someone else’s name. After the Supreme Court’s decision, the government tightened the process of getting SIM cards and also made the rules strict. After this, such cases also came to light in which close people were using SIM cards in their own names.
Amendment made in telecom law
In such cases, the police or agency that busted the entire gang in the courts got a shock when in most of the cases it was claimed that the phone was being used by a certain person. After this, the government amended the telecom law and decided that the SIM is yours and the responsibility is also yours, no matter who is using it. If a crime is committed by him, then you will have to suffer the consequences.
Now even if it is true that someone else has used your SIM or mobile and committed the crime. In this case, you will have to face a punishment of three years and a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh.
The Department of Telecommunications has issued an advisory to make the SIM or mobile user aware of the strict laws regarding being responsible. In such a situation, take care that whether the person walking on the road is an unknown person, an acquaintance or a relative, he should use his SIM and mobile himself. Do not hand over the SIM card to anyone else, because doing so can be dangerous for you.
How many sims are running in your name?
The government has already made it a crime to get a SIM card on fake documents or on someone else’s documents. In such a situation, if someone else tries to get a SIM card in your name, he will be caught. If you want to know how many SIM cards are running in your name, then go to http://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/ and enter your 10 digit mobile number and captcha code. After this, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number. After entering the OTP, you will have to login and the entire list will appear. If any number appears in it which you are not using, then you can immediately deactivate it and also complain.
