The government has expanded the scope of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Now people coming under the unorganized sector in cities will also get the benefit of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. These include domestic help, daily wage labourers and street vendors.
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is also known as Ayushman Bharat Scheme. This is the government’s health insurance scheme. This scheme has proved to be very successful in providing medical facilities to the people of economically weaker sections. Every family covered under this scheme gets a cover of Rs 5 lakh annually. Recently, the government has announced to give the benefit of this scheme to people aged 70 years and above.
Migrant laborers will also get benefits
Ayushman Card is issued to the families covered under Ayushman Bharat Scheme . With the help of this card, beneficiaries can get their treatment done in hospitals included in the panel of this scheme. The government has said that migrant laborers will come under the purview of this scheme. Such laborers can apply for Ayushman Card under this scheme at their current place of residence. It is estimated that this will greatly benefit those laborers who go hundreds of miles away from their home in search of livelihood.
Street vendors can also apply
Now people coming under the unorganized sector in cities will also get the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Scheme. These include servants working in homes, daily wage laborers and street vendors. These people do not get any kind of social security right now. Getting the benefit of Ayushman Bharat Scheme will make it very easy for them to get treatment. Apart from these, landless laborers, workers and other economically weak people in rural areas will also get the benefit of this scheme.
What is the process to apply?
To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is necessary to get an Ayushman card. A person can check on the official website of Ayushman Bharat whether he will get the benefit of this scheme or not. For this, he will have to provide his personal information on the website. If the person is eligible to apply in this scheme, then he will have to go to a hospital or common service center included in the panel and apply for the Ayushman card. To apply, the person must have proof of his identity. Aadhar or ration card can be used for this.
