In view of the Kanwar Yatra, the Uttarakhand government has decided to keep the Dehradun-Delhi Highway (NH-58) closed from July 29 to August 2. This step has been taken to ensure the safety of pilgrims and smooth operation during the journey.
Lakhs of devotees participate in the Kanwar Yatra every year. To ensure their safety, it has been deemed necessary to temporarily close the highway. During this time, alternate routes have been arranged for the travellers so that they do not face any inconvenience. The state government and the local administration, along with the police force and other security agencies, have made elaborate security arrangements.
Closing the highway is necessary to prevent traffic jams and accidents, as a large number of Kanwariyas travel on foot and the movement of vehicles on their route can be dangerous.
