Govt DA Increased News: On Wednesday, the Gujarat government announced a three percent increase in dearness allowance (DA), giving a gift to about nine lakh employees and pensioners. Apart from this, the maximum limit of gratuity amount has also been increased by 25 percent to Rs 25 lakh.
The state government has announced a three per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) to 53 per cent of the basic pay. The decision will come into effect with retrospective effect from July 1, 2024. The finance department issued a proposal to increase the DA from the current 50 per cent to 53 per cent of the basic pay under the Gujarat State Service (Pay Revision) Rules, 2016. The arrears for the period from July to November will be paid in January 2025 along with December’s salary and pension.
Hope to get financial relief
According to this decision of the government, the arrears for the period from July to November 2024 will be paid in January 2025 along with the salary and pension of December. This increase is expected to provide financial relief to government employees and pensioners.
Along with this, the Gujarat government has also increased the maximum limit of gratuity amount for state government employees. Now the limit of gratuity amount received at the time of retirement and death has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
Additional burden of 53 crores
After the increase in the gratuity amount, this amount has now become equal to that of the central government employees. This will provide financial security to the state employees and strengthen their post-retirement plans. However, this decision will put an additional burden of Rs 53.13 crore on the state treasury every year.
With this decision, the Gujarat government has made it clear that it is committed to protecting the interests of its employees. This step of the government has brought a wave of happiness among government employees and pensioners.
