Shakti Scheme: Shakti scheme has been implemented in the state of Karnataka. Under the Shakti Yojana, women of the state will be able to travel in government buses without any ticket or charge. However, it has certain conditions like 50% seats are reserved for men. The woman must belong to the state of Karnataka.

Free travel in buses outside the state is not allowed under the scheme. State road transport corporations like KSRTC, NWKRTC, and KKRTC will reserve 50% of their seats for men. Till the Shakti Smart Card is issued, the residents of the state can use the identity proof issued by the central or state government.
Benefits of Shakti Yojana
The Karnataka government launched free travel initiative under ‘Shakti Yojana’ for women in KSRTC and BMTC state-run buses. Government officials also gave some free passes to women during the launch of the program so that they can ride KSRTC and BMTC buses for free as part of the Shakti scheme.
This change will benefit more than 41.8 lakh women passengers. Through the Shakti scheme, women in Karnataka can travel in government-run buses in the state. More than 41.8 lakh women are using this service daily. The financial burden on the state has also increased due to this scheme of the government.
