Kanwar Yatra

Worshippers of Lord Shiva set out on a pilgrimage once a year known as the Kanwar Yatra, which holds immense significance for millions of Hindu devotees. The first day of the Hindu month of Sawan, which begins in July, marks the beginning of the yatra. This year, the auspicious month began on July 22 and will end on August 2. Mostly, pilgrims travel to Haridwar, Uttarakhand and Baidyanath, Jharkhand to offer holy water taken from the Ganges.

From there, they offer the water to the Shivling of the temple around their home. The Kanwar Yatra is a journey of penance, devotion and faith. It is much more than just a pilgrimage. It is believed that offering Ganga water to Lord Shiva brings immense benefits and spiritual merit. It symbolizes unwavering faith and desire for Lord Shiva’s heavenly blessings.
