The Magenta Line extension may open next month. The metro will run from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension in this 2.5 km long section. This will be the first section of Phase-IV to be open to the public. DMRC has received the safety certificate for this section. DMRC’s Principal Executive Director, Anuj Dayal said that the work of Janakpuri West – Krishna Park Extension section has been completed. All the necessary checks have also been done. The entire corridor will be ready by 2026
This new section on the Magenta Line will be an extension of Line 8 Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden. It has only one metro station, Krishna Park Extension, which is underground. However, the entire 29.3 km long corridor from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram is expected to be ready by 2026. There are a total of 22 stations in this entire corridor, including eight interchange stations. The target of DMRC is to open this corridor in a phased manner.
Metro will run from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension
On August 3, our associate newspaper TOI had reported that the opening of Krishna Park Extension Metro Station will benefit the people of nearby colonies. They will no longer have to go to Janakpuri West Metro Station. Full-screen platform screen doors have been installed at this station. A DMRC official said that such doors are mainly installed for crowd management in the station. Actually, these gates help passengers to line up properly for entry-exit in the train. These gates also ensure safe travel for passengers.

This section of the Magenta Line will be driverless
This new section of the Magenta Line will also be driverless as all the corridors of Phase-IV will be driverless. All the 29 trains of the Magenta Line have now become completely driverless. This is because the DMRC has removed the drivers’ cabins. An attendant is present after three to four trains and the attendants will also be removed in a phased manner.
DMRC said the inauguration date will come soon
