If you also start your day with the journey of Delhi Metro, then this news is useful for you. Passengers traveling in Delhi Metro will soon get rid of standing in long queues for token or smart card recharge.
Soon they will be able to pay metro fare by scanning the QR code from their bank’s debit or credit card and mobile phone. For this, the trial of National Common Mobility Card has been started at more than 50 metro stations. One or two new type automatic fare collection gates are being installed at all the stations. These have been installed at many stations including Jamia Nagar and Red Fort station.
The facility to buy tickets from QR-code was already available on the Airport Express line. But, there are some problems in this. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is trying to get away with the help of banks. Passengers are traveling on this line by scanning QR on mobile or by buying printed QR. Due to this, passengers do not need token and metro smart card.
The system will be fully implemented soon
DMRC is installing new AFCs at all metro stations to collect fare from the new system. Initially, NCMC facility will be provided at one or two gates. New gates are being installed at many other stations including Delhi Gate, Red Fort. At the same time, only old gates are being upgraded at some stations. By next year, passengers will start getting the benefit of NCMC on the entire network of Delhi Metro.
Rent discount
It is being told that those traveling through smart cards are being given concession in fare. Its purpose is to popularize NCMC among commuters. Metro passengers currently have to use tokens and smart cards to travel in the metro. With the implementation of NCMC, the option of paying rent through credit card, Rupay card, QR code, Android phone etc. will also be included.
