Under the performance incentive scheme, employees of Bhilai Steel Plant are provided a lump sum bonus on the basis of their performance in the financial year.
Through this scheme, employees are included in 30% of the profit and 75% in the amount received on achieving the target. Actually, the target is given to the employees in the financial year. After completing it, 70 percent of the amount is paid.
Let us inform that in the last financial year 2021-22, Bhilai Steel Plant has made a profit of 16000 crores and 13000 crores after paying taxes. Whereas in the first quarter of the current financial year, the company has seen a profit of 776 crores. In such a situation, the amount of bonus is being demanded by the employee organization from the new formula. 21000 bonus was given to the employees last year. At the same time, they are demanding that according to the profit, they should get a bonus of up to 50000 this year.
Neither the Bonus Act has been amended by the Steel Authority of India Limited. At the same time, new formulas for payment being made under the Performance Incentive Scheme have been decided. Whereas in the meeting to determine the bonus, the management had assured that the policy for the coming year would be prepared. Now the time has come for the meeting to decide the bonus and if the information about its formula is not revealed, the employees can make a big demand soon.
In the matter, Datta, president of the BSP workers union, says that last year the plant workers were given bonus. The management had then assured that the formula for awarding the bonus would be finalized next year. Management should first determine the bonus distribution formula.
