Free Electricity Update: Big news for the beneficiaries of 300 units of free electricity, Strict orders issued

0

The winter season has started, due to which there has been a drastic reduction in complaints related to power failure. Due to this, the departmental officials are feeling relief about uninterrupted power supply and attention is being focused on other works.

Meanwhile, the wrongly installed meters are being investigated and the process of removing the meters of those who violate the rules has already started. A huge increase in new connections has been seen after the Punjab government launched the 300 units free electricity scheme. There was a race to install meters wrongly in every area and efforts to get double benefit of free electricity scheme by installing 2 meters in one house intensified.

Due to the installation of new meters, the demand for electricity has broken records and the burden of subsidy on the government has increased. Due to the new connections, the demand for electricity increased so much that Powercom management faced many problems. Due to this, PowerCom has decided to take action on the wrongly charged meters so that the department can get relief in the near future.

On the one hand, PowerCom will benefit from taking action on wrongly connected meters, on the other hand, the government will save crores of rupees per month. Due to this, a checking campaign is being started by Powercom, under this, those who install meters incorrectly will be seen removing their meters. At the same time, in view of the winter weather, the department has started improving the electricity system, changing the wires, updating the transformer, and focusing on the pending works. Due to this, there will be a reduction in electricity complaints in the coming summer season and the consumers will get huge relief.

Screws will be tightened on those who use more than the sanctioned load.

Hundreds of connections running 4-5 KW load on 1-2 KW sanctioned load are running in every area. Such connections do not detect the exact load used in the department’s area, due to which the transformers are overloaded. The transformer is installed according to the load of meters issued by the department in the respective area. But many times more power is used by the power consumers of the respective transformers than the sanctioned load. This causes problems. Officials say that the transformer does not take more load and the fuse gets blown. The department has planned to crack down on such consumers. Officials say that consumers who use more than the sanctioned load should increase their load otherwise they will be fined in the departmental investigation.

Non-payment of bills under the guise of zero bills

Officials said that many electricity consumers using more than 300 units under the guise of free electricity scheme are not paying their bills, which has become a source of trouble for Powercom. is Due to this, many connections were cut in the past days and action is being taken against those who do not pay dues. Officials say that the bills of non-payers are continuously pending and the amount is increasing, it will be recovered as soon as possible.

Action will be taken against those who go against the rules: Chief Eng. Sarangal
North Zone Chief Eng. Ramesh Lal Sarangal said that the complaints have reduced due to which the department is paying attention to the pending works. Action will be taken against those who make wrong connections against the rules. In this way, the focus will be on recovery from defaulters and increasing load.
