PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the central government is launching ‘PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme’ to promote solar energy and sustainable progress.
This scheme will provide electricity to one crore homes by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month. PM Modi said that there will be an investment of more than Rs 75,000 crore in this project.
PM Modi said, ‘From subsidies to heavily concessional bank loans, the central government will ensure that no cost burden falls on the people. All stakeholders will be integrated through a national online portal which will provide further convenience. Let us tell you that the subsidy will be given directly into people’s bank accounts.
PM Modi further said, ‘To popularize this scheme at the grassroots level, urban local bodies and panchayats will be encouraged to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdiction. Also, this scheme will give people more income, lower electricity bills and employment generation.
