Fastag New Rules To streamline toll payments, reduce disputes and curb fraud, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Ministry of Road Transport have made some important changes in the rules related to Fastag.
New rules for Fastag come into effect from today
Under the new Fastag rules that come into effect from today, Monday, users with low balance, late payment or blacklisted tags will be charged additional fines. The new rules will affect users who delay payments or whose tags are blacklisted.
The transaction will be rejected if the Fastag remains inactive for more than 60 minutes before the vehicle crosses the toll and for 10 minutes after the vehicle crosses the toll. The system will reject such payments.
Then you will have to pay extra fee…
- Additionally, changes have been made to the chargeback process and cooling period as well as transaction rejection rules to streamline toll payments and reduce disputes.
- According to the new guidelines, a FASTag user may have to pay additional charges if the toll transaction is updated more than 15 minutes after the time the vehicle passes through the toll reader.
In this case, the user will be able to lodge a complaint after 15 daysÂ
As per the updated National Electronic Toll Collection guidelines, the toll operator will be held responsible if the transaction is delayed and the user’s Fastag account does not have sufficient balance. However, if the amount is deducted, the user can lodge a complaint after 15 days. Earlier, users could recharge their Fastag at the toll booth and then proceed further.
