The Cabinet has announced that FASTag will be mandatory on all vehicles in the state from April 1, 2025. If you do not use FASTag, you will have to pay double the toll. FASTag makes toll payments smooth and transparent.
If you drive a car, then you must be aware of Fastag. But just being aware is not enough. It is important for you to stay updated with the rules related to it. Because the government keeps changing the rules related to Fastag again and again. Along with this, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) are continuously working to make the payment option at toll plazas more smooth and hassle-free for the convenience of the people.
Now in such a situation, the Maharashtra Cabinet has announced that from April 1, 2025, it will be mandatory to install FASTag on all vehicles in the state. Earlier, FASTag was not mandatory in Maharashtra. Although FASTag has been made mandatory in most of the states of the country, exemption was given in some states. Maharashtra was also included in these states. But now from April 1, FASTag will become mandatory on all vehicles in Maharashtra too.
How much is the fine for not installing it?
From April 1, if your vehicle does not have a FASTag, you will have to pay double the toll as a penalty. To avoid this, install the FASTag on your vehicle on time.
What is Fastag?
Fastag is a small electronic RFID tag that car drivers affix to the windshield of their car. This RFID tag can read the vehicle details using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology so that toll can be paid very easily without stopping at the toll plaza. This saves both time and money and also makes the toll collection process easy and transparent.
